ABA Services for Children

What is ABA?

ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA comes from a school of psychology known as behaviorism. At the most basic level of understanding, the science of behaviorism involves changing aspects of the physical environment in order to influence an organism’s behavior(s). Modern ABA is a rapidly-evolving field which uses sophisticated techniques, and which places great emphasis on safety, socially significant behaviors, and on our ethical responsibilities to the people we serve. The form of ABA that I practice is based on respect for individual choice, and is intended to be a safe, private, and dignifying experience.

Who can benefit from ABA?

It is a common misconception that only children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disorders can benefit from ABA therapy. In reality, ABA is the science of learning, and any child who has difficulty learning new skills or who has unhelpful problem behaviors which interfere with learning can benefit from this type of therapy.
